Certificates in EVA Check-in

Certificates in EVA Check-in help you reuse valid information that has already been collected. This can make check-in and pre-arrival faster for returning visitors, contractors, and workers.

EVA supports two types of certificates:

  • Process certificates, which are created from a check-in or pre-arrival process
  • Manual certificates, which are added by an admin to record something completed outside EVA - e.g. a training course

What certificates do

Certificates allow EVA to recognise that a person has already completed specific steps or provided specific answers.

This can help you:

  • reduce repeat questions for returning people
  • record training, inductions, or other requirements
  • track when a certificate is current or expired

A valid certificate can also allow EVA to skip check-in steps that have already been completed.

Types of certificates

Process certificates

A process certificate is created automatically when a person completes the relevant part of a check-in or pre-arrival process.

Use a process certificate when you want EVA to:

  • collect answers as part of a workflow
  • remember those answers for future visits
  • apply an expiry date
  • support certificate renewal where configured

Manual certificates

A manual certificate is added by an admin. It is used to record something completed outside EVA, such as an in-person induction or a training course.

Use a manual certificate when you want to keep a record in EVA without requiring the person to complete that step through an EVA workflow.

When certificates are used

Certificates can apply to one site or across multiple sites, depending on how they are set up.

If a person already has a valid certificate, EVA may use that certificate to avoid asking the same questions again.

Renewing certificates

Some process certificates can be renewed when they are close to expiry or have expired.

When a certificate is renewed, EVA creates a new certificate record rather than updating the previous one. This means you may see more than one certificate for the same person over time, such as:

  • an older expired certificate
  • a newer current certificate

Visitor self-renewal applies to process certificates when renewal has been configured.

Manual certificates do not support visitor self-renewal.
